A Lifestyle of Praise
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name.” Psalm 103:1 MEV
Hey friend,
Happy New Year!
I’ve been guilty many times of starting the New Year focused on myself and all that I want to accomplish. While it is good and needful to be focused in order to be productive, sometimes I have been so focused on earthly things that I forgot about God and spiritual things. Honestly, I don’t mean to do that but it’s ultimately what happens. And friend, I don’t ever want to make that mistake again.
Psalms 103:1 says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name.”
I absolutely love the book of Psalms. There are so many nuggets in this book to glean from but one of the things I love most about it is how the Psalmist praises God through the mountain-top and valley moments. For the psalmist, it wasn’t just a random event but a lifestyle of praise. This challenges me to be more praise-minded especially on the days when I’m doing everything else BUT praising God.
As we begin a new year, let’s make it a priority to praise God for who He is and what He has done in our lives. Let’s make praising God a lifestyle. The fact of the matter is we don’t deserve His grace and His mercy but praise God He extends grace and mercy to us day after day, moment by moment. Our God really truly is praise-worthy!
Dear God,
Thank you for just being you. You amaze me every day with your kindness and goodness. Your mercy and grace knows no limit. I don’t deserve your relentless love. It humbles me and I thank you for loving me without end. I praise you Oh Lord – you are Holy, wonderful, beautiful, and powerful. My vocabulary fades when I try to come up with the words for how great you are. Thank you for never giving up on me. Thank you for sustaining me and giving me another day to praise you. Help me to live totally sold out to you. I love you. In Jesus Name, Amen.
