A Thanksgiving Prayer
“Raising my voice in thanksgiving and telling about your wondrous works.” Psalms 26:7 CSB
Dear Jesus,
As I sit here reflecting on my many blessings, I can’t help but feel so incredibly humble that you are so good to me even though I don’t deserve your goodness. Thank you for being so patient with me when I try to go my own way. And thank you for continuing to pursue me when I wander off the path that you have laid out for me. Thank you for always being so merciful and gracious and for always loving me when I am unlovable. Help me to live a life of thankfulness even when life is tough, and I don’t feel so thankful. Keep my eyes focused on my blessings each and every day.
Just like David said in Psalms 26:7, help me to raise my voice in thanksgiving in the good and in the bad - so that I can proclaim your goodness and your love to the entire world. Because you are worthy, O God, to receive all my praise!
Thank you for the things that I miss each day - for the things I take for granted. For waking up, for giving me sight, and for allowing me to put my feet on the floor and take care of my family.
But most of all, dear Lord, thank you for saving my soul - for sending Jesus to die on that old, rugged cross so that I can receive forgiveness. I am looking forward to the day when I get to fall at your feet and worship you - to look you in the eyes and say, “Thank you for loving me so.” Until then…
Thank you, Jesus - Thank you…
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
