Keys to Unlocking Victory

“Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:18 CSB

Hey friend,

Last week we kicked off our series on the Armor of God and I’ll be honest – I’m so excited to dive into this topic with you! If you missed last week’s post, you can find it here.

Have you ever struggled with feeling victorious in your Christian life? I certainly have. The weight of this world just feels extremely heavy at times. Trials and tribulations carry a heaviness that no amount of chocolate or feel-good exercises can cure or erase. Sometimes it can feel like I’m tossed about like a battered ship during a tumultuous storm.

But I’m learning that God never intended for us to walk in defeat day after day. When He secured our eternal victory by dying on the cross and rising from the dead, He also secured our daily victory in the here and now on planet Earth.

There are two main keys that we need to have to unlock victory in our daily walk this side of Heaven.

1.        Develop a Kingdom Perspective – When we begin to view everything that happens in our life through a kingdom lens, we can understand how to position ourselves for victory. Before creation took place, there was a kingdom that existed in the Heavenlies. However, treason was committed by Satan who sought to overthrow the True King – Almighty God. Since then, Satan has been trying to deceive, manipulate, destroy, and use all forces of evil to bring as many as he can along with him to his fateful end. And even though we are temporarily here on planet Earth – we must remember that this is not our final destination. There are only two final destinations – Heaven for those that have placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation and Hell for those that have rejected Jesus as Lord and Savior. There is no other choice. Having a kingdom perspective allows us to view what happens in our daily life through the lens of eternity and the battle raging for the soul of humanity. But make no mistake, the devil isn’t fighting for your soul because he thinks you’re the greatest thing since sliced bread. Nope. Don’t let him fool you. The devil is fighting to destroy you because he hates God and hates everything that God loves. When we truly learn how to develop a kingdom perspective and view every detail of our lives through a kingdom lens, then we hold one of the main keys to unlocking victory in our daily life.

2.       Realize prayer is key to activating our armor– As we develop a kingdom perspective, we learn to view our circumstances through the correct lens. This allows us to know how to fight our battles the correct way. Through prayer. Everything that is in the physical realm is directly connected to the spiritual realm. Prayer allows us to tap into the Heavenly realm – it gives us direct access to the throne of God. Prayer is the divine means of putting on the spiritual armor. Not only does prayer plug us into the source, but prayer allows us to have an audience with our Heavenly Father. Without prayer, our armor is only partially on. It’s like a solider going to battle without having their uniform or their weapon. The solider would be much more effective if he or she was suited up and prepared for battle.

We will see more spiritual victory in our lives when we apply these two main keys to our daily armor. One is weak without the other. Both are needed to ensure a life of victory.

God,

Thank you for loving us enough to give us guidance on what it takes to live and walk in victory on this side of Heaven. Help me to view everything in my day from a kingdom perspective. Teach me how to pray so that I tip the balance toward you and not the enemy. Thank you for giving us access to you through prayer. Help me to lean on you more than I do. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Reflection:

What struggles do you face when trying to view your daily life through a kingdom lens? Journal your thoughts.

How would you describe your prayer life? What do you struggle with the most when you think about prayer and how it relates to your daily life?

Write out an action plan of one thing you will do differently as you begin to shift your perspective. Write out a prayer to God asking for help on the weak areas of your prayer life.
