Praying for Boldness
“Now, Lord, look on their threats and grant that Your servants may speak Your word with great boldness.” Acts 4:29 MEV
Hey friend!
I want to extend an invitation to you. Over the past month, I’ve been part of a prayer challenge. This prayer challenge has been to pray and ask God for an opportunity to share the Gospel of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection with someone each day that God puts in our path.
Sometimes it can be difficult to know what to say when these opportunities arise. Instead of speaking boldly, sometimes I have worried that I might say the wrong thing and push the person away from God instead. Do you struggle with this too?
When we struggle with knowing what words to speak, we can ask God for help. Our key verse gives us an example, “Now, Lord, look on their threats and grant that Your servants may speak Your word with great boldness.” Acts 4:29
This chapter starts out with Peter and John teaching and preaching about Jesus. Thousands of people believed and trusted in Jesus (Acts 4:4) – talk about an awesome revival!! This made the leaders of that day furious. They seized Peter and John and threw them into jail until they were finally released. However, this persecution only made the disciples want to spread the good news of Jesus even more than before.
We don’t have to worry about saying the wrong thing because God promises help through the Holy Spirit! Acts 4:31 tells us, “When they had prayed, the place where they were assembled was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God boldly.” It encourages my heart so much when I read about prayers being answered!
Friend, the world needs to hear about the good news of Jesus and it’s up to us to tell them. Let’s start by praying for God to send us opportunities and that He would open our eyes to those opportunities. Not only that, but let’s pray that He will give us boldness to speak the name of Jesus and His unfailing love.
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your word – You are so faithful, and your promises are true! Give me boldness to speak the good news of Jesus. Open my eyes to see opportunities to share the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Give me a hunger for the lost – I want them to see Jesus in me.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
Prayer Challenge:
Father, today would you give me an opportunity to share the Good News of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. Open my eyes to see these opportunities and give me boldness. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Reflection:
Will you join me in praying this prayer challenge daily?
I encourage you to commit to praying this prayer and then see what God will do. He will be faithful to answer!
