When Love Came Down
“I will praise you, Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations.”
Psalms 108:3 CSB
Hey friend!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, isn’t it!?!
It always amazes me just how fast the years fly by. It seems as if it was only yesterday that we just wrapped up last year and here we are at the close of another year. But before we get lost in the hustle and bustle of the season, let’s pause and reflect on what is the true reason for the season.
In a few weeks, we will celebrate the birthday of our King – King Jesus – the One who came humbly as a baby in a manger to redeem humanity back to a Holy God and I am so excited! One of the things I look forward to every year is sitting down with my family while my dad picks up his worn Bible and reads the Christmas story. If you have grown up listening to it as I have, it can be easy to gloss right over it as just another story but oh friend – it is much more than just another story.
It’s the story of hope. But not just hope – oh no! It’s the story of when love came down. Such amazing love. From the beginning in the book of Genesis-back in the garden of Eden- God knew that the only way to bring about redemption for sinful humanity – that redemption could only come through His Son – Jesus. Four thousand years later, God in flesh would be born to a virgin and would begin His journey to the cross – for you and for me. Oh, what amazing love.
Psalms 108:3 says, “I will praise you, Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations.”
But I absolutely love what the next verse says. Psalms 108:4 goes on to say, “For your faithful love is higher than the heavens, and your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.”
Dear friend, let’s lift our voices in praise to our faithful and loving God. His love is never-ending and will never fail.
Yes - Jesus came as a baby in a manger, but He didn’t stay a baby – He grew up and died on a cross for you and for me – but He didn’t stay dead – He rose on the third day and is seated at the right hand of His Father.
Oh, and friend - one day soon, He’s coming back for all those who have trusted in Him as their Savior and Lord to take us home with Him.
All because of His faithful love. Hallelujah! See, it’s more than just a story - It’s the story of all stories - the story of when love came down for you and for me! Glory Hallelujah!
Heavenly Father,
I praise your holy name. Thank you for loving us so much that you sent your Son to save and redeem us. I can’t fathom how you continuously love me so and yet, I’m so very thankful that you do. God, it’s easy for us to get focused on the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season. But God, help me to slow down and focus on what really matters – You. I praise you Lord – thank you for the gift of Jesus. I love you, In Jesus Name, Amen.
