Living Intentional
From the Armor Series
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” Deuteronomy 6:5 CSB
Hey friend!
I’m so glad you are here! We have been chatting about the belt of truth in our armor series and how important it is in living victoriously in the daily grind of life. God’s truth should always be our starting place for any circumstance or situation in life. When we fail to start with His truth, we are subject to being tossed to and fro by the crashing waves of life.
Living victoriously doesn’t just happen. It takes living intentional day in and day out. It takes going back to the starting line of putting our situation under the X-ray of God’s truth and seeing how they line up. Our culture screams to do whatever makes us happy. However, God’s truth will never lead us to only worry about ourselves. This is why we always must start with the truth.
A great place to start is to learn to flesh out our key verse and the verses that follow it. Deuteronomy 6:5 says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” Deuteronomy 6:5. We can never go wrong when we choose to love God more than we love ourselves.
Verses 6-9 go on to say, “These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates.”
Friend, loving God and following Him isn’t just a one-and-done thing. It should actually become a way of life for us. Everything we do should revolve around these verses right here tucked into the pages of Old Testament law. This is our starting point. When we start with loving God and basing everything against His truth, we are well on our way to being suited for battle properly.
Dear God,
Help me to always look to you first for truth in any situation. Give me a hunger for you and your word. Lord, you are so good – thank you for showing me the path to true peace. In Jesus Name, Amen.
