The Best Place to Run To
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10 MEV
Hey friend,
Do you ever just feel overwhelmed by the tumultuous waves that seem to be crashing all around you? Life is tough. Marriage is tough. One day can feel like the two of you are walking in sync and then all of a sudden you are struggling to keep your head above water. Friend, I can relate. I’ve been right where you are.
Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.” Sweet friend, this verse encourages my heart in any situation I face. No matter what crazy life storm will be hurled our way next, we can have confidence in knowing that our God is a place of refuge. Just the mention of His name brings peace. Our God is the best place to run to – no matter the situation we face.
All throughout the Bible, God reminds us of where our ultimate safety and help are found. Psalms 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble.” And Psalms 91:2 says, “I will say concerning the Lord, who is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.” Psalms 71:3 says, “Be a rock of refuge for me, where I can always go. Give the command to save me, for you are my rock and fortress.” David, who wrote most of the Psalms, knew all about needing refuge from the storms of life. He was on the run from King Saul who wanted to kill him. Now that is definitely a dark season to walk through!
Time and time again, God reminds us through His word that the very best place to run to is Him and Him alone. Whatever you are going through right now, no matter how big or how small, run to the safety of your heavenly Father. He’s waiting!
Dear God,
Thank you for the promise in your word that you are the best place we can run to. You are our refuge and strong tower. In you we have the ultimate rest and safety. No matter what I am facing in life, keep me centered on you and help me to call on you first before I run to anything else. In Jesus Name, Amen.
