Hey Mama!

What is weighing heavy on your heart today? What burden are you carrying? I want to encourage you with something you already know but sometimes we forget. You don’t have to carry it alone. If you are like me, you tend to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. It’s what we do as Mothers. But it was never supposed to be that way. God never designed it that way.

While He did give us a huge responsibility in caring for our children, He never meant for us to do it alone. My heart has been heavy here lately and it is super easy for me to try to handle it all by myself without asking for God’s help. But I must be honest with you. I don’t get very far before I am crying out to my Heavenly Father for help because I can’t handle it all by myself.

I love the whole passage of Psalm 121.

“I lift my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to slip; your protector will not slumber. Indeed, the Protector of Israel does not slumber or sleep. The Lord protects you; the Lord is a shelter right by your side. The sun will not strike you by day or the moon by night. The Lord will protect you from all harm; he will protect your life. The Lord will protect your coming and going both now and forever.”

What a comfort it is that our God is our help! He never fails on the job. He doesn’t fall asleep. He doesn’t forget. He is faithful and true – He can be trusted. He is our protector. He is our shelter when the storms of life are beating down. What a true comfort to know that the Almighty God of Heaven is my protector and helper. There is nothing too big or small that He can’t handle.

I pray that this encourages your heart like it does mine. Jeremiah 33:3 is one of my favorite verses. It says, “Call to me and I will answer you, and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know.” If I will just call out to Him, He promises to answer me and show me things that I can’t even begin to understand. The same is true for you sweet friend.

Whatever that burden is that you are carrying – lift your eyes to Jesus. Allow Him to help you with it. He is the very best help that we could ever find.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for this reminder that I was never created to carry these burdens alone. You are my helper and the very best help I can ever have. Help me with the burdens I am carrying. Show me how to rely on you more. Thank you for the promises in your word – you are my rock, my redeemer, my protector, and my shelter. I praise you for who you are. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Reflection:

Do you tend to struggle with asking for help on the burdens you are carrying?

Do you find that somethings are easy to ask God for help with while others are harder?

How can you shift your mindset when the harder things leave you burdened down and you feel all alone?
