For Such a Time As This

“If you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will come to the Jewish people from another place, but you and your father’s family will be destroyed. Who knows, perhaps you have come to your royal position for such a time as this.” Esther 4:14 CSB

Hey Mama!

Do you ever wonder if you are ever making a difference in your children’s lives? Do you ever feel like there are days when the words you speak to them seem to go in one ear and out the other? Do you ever feel like throwing your hands up because you think someone else could possibly do a better job than you?

Dear friend – I have. And I understand how you feel.

The weight of raising up the next generation is overwhelming at times. As mothers, we want our children to grow up loving God with all their hearts, to make the right choices in life, and to choose the right friends that will build them up and not tear them down. We want our kids to know how amazing they are and that only God Almighty defines their worth. We want these things and so much more.

More importantly, we want to know that we have shown our children how Jesus paved the way for eternal life in Heaven and that when this life on earth ends, they will be with Jesus for all eternity because they have accepted Him as Savior and Lord. No doubt that the responsibilities of motherhood can weigh us down and make us think that we just aren’t making a difference at all.

Please hear me when I tell you, YOU ARE AN AMAZING MAMA!

You were put in your position for such a time as this – just like our key verse says. Queen Esther didn’t know at the time why she was chosen to be Queen but God had a plan to use her to save His people from the schemes of the enemy. I’m satisfied she had moments when she thought she wasn’t qualified to carry out her purpose. And just like we, as mothers, are responsible for bringing our children up to be the next generation of Godly men and women, Esther had the grave responsibility of saving the entire Jewish nation. There are several lessons we can learn from Esther but here are a few that stand out to me:

1.      Esther had to spend time – a whole year of her life in preparation.  God never wastes anything friend. He is always going before us and preparing us.- Trust Him.

2.      Esther had to be willing to obey the advice of Mordecai. – Do you seek the advice of other Godly women? Do you seek God for direction? Do you have a humble heart to listen and obey?

3.      Esther understood the importance of fasting and prayer. -When is the last time you earnestly and fervently fasted and prayed over your children?  Esther knew in order to fight the battle against the enemy; she had to get herself in a position for victory.

4.      Esther had to have boldness and courage to risk her life to stand up for what was right. -It’s not easy to take a stand against a culture that is against everything about God and His word. Esther wasn’t willing to compromise her convictions and neither can we.

Yes, sweet friend, you are right where you are for “such a time as this!” You are making a difference more than you can possibly comprehend. There is a real enemy that is fighting to take your children and destroy your family (1 Peter 4:8). Keep doing what you are doing. Stand tall. Be brave. Do not fear. The Lord your God goes before you and beside you. He will never leave you or forsake you. (Joshua 1:9)

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for women like Esther who teaches me how to live out my God given purpose. You are so faithful to go before us and fight for us. Thank you for your faithfulness. God I pray for the Mama who is reading this – I pray that she will feel your presence in every aspect of her day – remind her who she is in YOU. In Jesus Name, Amen.
