The Truth of the Matter
From the Armor Series
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 MEV
Hey friend,
We have spent a little more time than normal on the belt of truth in our armor series but I promise it has been intentional.
Look at Ephesians 6:10-18 and list the names of the pieces of armor in the order they appear.
1. ____________
2. ____________
3. ____________
4. ____________
5. ____________
6. ____________
7. Prayer_______
It’s no coincidence that the belt of truth is listed first before any of the other pieces. As we have previously mentioned, the belt of truth is our spiritual plank. It’s our core support and starting line. It’s what holds everything else together. Without the belt of truth, all the other armor pieces wouldn’t be as effective.
During the moments in my life when my desires haven’t been lined up with the truth of God’s word, I haven’t had the most victorious outcomes. Most of the time I would do whatever I wanted to, asking forgiveness later or I would act out of obligation with a stone cold heart that wasn’t very pleasing to God. Either path wasn’t a great option honestly. It’s only been the times in my life where I have operated whole-heartily in God’s truth that I have been the most victorious. That, sweet friend, is the truth of the matter.
We just can’t gloss over this important piece of armor. It is the glue that holds everything together. How is that? John 1:1 shines some light on the matter by saying, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” God’s word is our true starting point because God’s word is Him. He is the glue that holds everything together. He is the truth. Everything else pales in comparison to our great God.
Daughter of the King, run to Him. Rely on His truth for every circumstance you face. Mama – teach it to you children and show them how to lean heavy on this piece of armor. They will need it more than they need many other things in life. Wife – when the enemy comes at you in your marriage, stop him in his tracks with God’s truth.
We must be women that allows God’s truth to permeate into every fiber of our being. This is our starting place. We don’t need to leave home without it.
Dear God,
Thank you for who you are. Thank you for your word that is trustworthy and true. Help me to put every situation and every thought and emotion under the x-ray of your truth. Give me discernment to know when something isn’t lining up with your word. In Jesus Name, Amen.
