When You Need To Sit a Spell
From the Armor Series
“The completeness of pardon, for past offense and the integrity of character that belong to the justified life are woven together into an impenetrable breastplate.” G. G. Findlay
Hey friend!
Next week we will finish discussing the breastplate of righteousness in the Armor series, but I want to pause for right now. I don’t know if you ever feel tempted to do this but sometimes it’s easy for me to speed through all the stories and topics from God’s word that I’ve grown up hearing and fail to really lock in the truths that God is trying to teach me.
Since prayer is such a vital piece of our armor, let’s just sit for a spell and have a talk with Jesus. It’s just what my soul needs right now. Can you relate?
Lord,
My heart is heavy this evening. I look around at everything happening in our world today and I’m homesick for Heaven. There are so many voices screaming their own version of truth from every direction. Sometimes, it’s difficult to hear your voice above the noise - so Lord – I just wanted to sit a spell with you and give you what is on my heart. I don’t want to speed through this series and fail to grasp the truths that you want me to learn. I know I’m guilty of doing that God so please forgive me when I get in too big of a hurry.
Thank you for opening my eyes today to how the world is trying to get into my head and challenge what you say in your word. Continue to give me eyes to see your truths. Give me discernment to take each circumstance and run it under the lens of your Word. Continue to teach me how to wear my belt of truth and nudge me every time I am tempted not to wear my uniform of right living. I want my life to be a sweet aroma before you because I’m so thankful for all you have done for me. Your love leaves me speechless. I just can’t get over it and I pray that I never do.
God – keep my eyes aware of the enemy. Help me to teach these truths to my children. They need to know how to walk victoriously in this life. You have provided a way and so often I neglect the truths and nuggets of wisdom found in your Word.
I pray over every woman that will read this prayer. I pray hard for her and the struggles she encounters. I pray that you will open her eyes to the spiritual battle that is raging all around her. Help her to see that you have given us the resources to stand firm against the enemy. He may be clever but he doesn’t have the final say – you do! And for that I am so grateful! Continue to lead me and guide me in your path. I don’t want to go without you. I love you – In Jesus name, Amen.
