The Greatest Invitation
“Come, everyone who is thirsty, come to the water; and you without silver, come, buy, and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without silver and without cost!” Isaiah 55:1 CSB
Hey friend!
God has extended to us the greatest invitation written on the pages of the Bible. This invitation is so special that there is no other invitation that could ever come close to matching or exceeding it.
The invite of the ages is simple, and yet we seem to make it complicated. It’s an invitation we often reject until our circumstances scream desperation, and we have nowhere else to turn to.
This great invitation often lands in the bucket of our “best intentions” that we never seem to have time for. And friend, sadly, it’s been tossed in my” best intention” bucket more times than I care to admit.
The greatest invitation is from God almighty Himself to come and be completely satisfied. It’s really that simple. All that is required of us is to come – He does the rest.
Isaiah 55:1 says, “Come, everyone who is thirsty, come to the water; and you without silver, come, buy, and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without silver and without cost!”
Every single time I chase other things that I think will satisfy me, they only leave me empty, thirsty for more. It’s a bottomless pit of chasing and remaining parched. But I’m learning something amazing. When I accept the greatest invitation from my heavenly Father to come and allow Him to satisfy my thirst, I am always completely and totally satisfied.
John 4:14 tells us, “But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
Again, in Revelation 21:6, we find, “And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty, I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment.”
This invitation cost us nothing to come to Him, and yet, it cost Him everything – God’s precious Son, Jesus, paid the price so that we can come to God once and for all.
Dear friend, what are you searching for today? Accept His invitation – It’s the greatest invitation you will ever receive.
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for making a way for me to come to You. Thank you for paying the price and for extending to me the greatest invitation of all time. An invite to meet with you and allow you to satisfy my every need. Forgive me when I seek after less satisfying things instead of you. Draw me close to you. In Jesus name, Amen.
