The Greatest Promise Keeper

“The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness. But He is patient with us, because He does not want any to perish, but all come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 MEV

Hey friend!

Have you ever been disappointed by a broken promise?

I certainly have.  It’s definitely not enjoyable being on the receiving end of broken promises.

Broken promises tend to create a wall that’s built with doubt and mistrust. And when these walls are erected within us, it becomes hard to trust anyone.

But there is One that we can place our every confidence in.  He is the Greatest Promise Keeper that ever lived. His name is Jesus.

2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness. But He is patient with us, because He does not want any to perish, but all come to repentance.”

Not only is Almighty God the greatest promise keeper, but He is also patient and loving toward all of humanity.

John 3:16-17 says, “For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

Romans 5:8 tells us, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

See, way back when sin entered into the Garden of Eden and fellowship was broken between sinful humanity and a holy God, God promised that He would send a way for fallen humanity to be redeemed and restored back to Him and He kept His promise by sending His Son, Jesus.

Friend, why would He do that?

It’s really simple, and yet we seem to complicate it. He did it because of His great love for us. He did it because He doesn’t want anyone to perish but for ALL to come to repentance.

My pastor has a saying – “ALL means ALL. That is “All” that “All” will ever mean.” ALL is Everyone. Not a single person is ever left out.

However, redemption isn’t automatic. We have to make a choice.

Dear friend, choose Jesus – He’s the greatest promise keeper you will ever know.

Dear God,

Thank you for your vast love for humanity – thank you for your great love for me. Thank you that you loved us all so much that you made a way for us to be restored back to you. Thank you for Jesus and for what He accomplished when He died on the cross, was buried, raised back to life, and is now seated at your right-hand making intersession for me. I don’t know why you love me so, but I’m so thankful that you do. Thank you for being the kind of God that is trustworthy – that keeps your promises – and for being so patient with me. In Jesus Name, Amen.
