A Prayer of Thanksgiving

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart celebrates, and I give thanks to him with my song.” Psalms 28:7 CSB

Hey Mama!

Happy Thanksgiving Week!! I hope you had a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving! We have been reflecting on God’s blessings over this last week. God sure is good, isn’t He?

One of the blessings He has given me that I’m so very thankful for is my children. I’m sure you agree that even on their most trying days, they are truly a gift from God.

But I must be honest – there is absolutely no way that I can do this mama thing without God’s help. I seem to get more wrong than what I do right and if He wasn’t there to lead, guide, and help me, well – I can honestly say I wouldn’t have any hope. Do you ever feel like you are a failure as a mom? Friend, I do all the time.

This is why I want to encourage us to pause and thank God for being our strength and our shield. If it wasn’t for Him, I would be totally lost and undone. I need Him as I’m sure you do as well.

So, I invite you to join me in a prayer of thanksgiving – let’s lift our voices to the One that sustains us – Our Great and Mighty God – as we thank Him for who He is and for all He does for us.

Dear God, Thank you for the gift of ________________________. Thank you for being my strength and my shield and for helping me to teach him/her about you. I praise your holy name! Thank you for never leaving me or forsaking me. Draw me closer to you and help me to lead by example how to lean on you each day. You are so good, and your mercy is never-ending. I love you! In Jesus Name, Amen.

Sweet friend, let’s continue to thank God for His faithfulness. We must be careful not to let it end with the thanksgiving holiday but let it overflow into next week and the many weeks to follow.

Dear God,

You are truly my strength and my shield. If it wasn’t for you sustaining me each day and carrying me through each hour, I would be a mess – much more than what I already am. Thank you for helping me to be a better mama. Help me to look to you more for direction and discernment. I praise you God for who you are and all you do. I stand in awe of your goodness. I don’t understand why you thought I would be the best mama for the kids you blessed me with but I’m so humbled and thankful that you chose me to be their mama. Help me to be the kind of mama that you want me to be – one that brings honor to your name. Help me to lead by example how to walk with you. I lift my voice and praise your name. You are good and holy. In Jesus Name, Amen.
