Love Notes
“I love you, O Lord, my strength. Psalm 18:1 MEV
Hey friend,
Before David became king, he spent much time on the run from King Saul and others that were out to kill him. And although God had already appointed David as the next king, David had to go through difficult circumstances before Saul would be removed from the throne and David would actually take his place and become Israel’s next King. I can only imagine the agony David must have gone through before the promise of God was fulfilled.
Psalm 18:1 says, “I love you, O Lord, my strength. Psalm 18:1 MEV
As I read through Psalm 18, my heart is encouraged and challenged. Even though David endured hardships and many sleepless nights running for his life, he begins his love note of prayer to the Lord with praise and love. He begins by telling the Lord, “I love you”.
Friend, David’s song of prayer challenges me deeply. How many times do I tell others of my love but forget to tell God how much I love Him?
I think we all can relate to David on some level. Life is far from perfect and each day brings different challenges to us all. We may not have someone trying to kill us as David did, but we all have our own version of hardships to walk through.
Yet, no matter the circumstance we face, God remains faithful. He rescues us when we need to be rescued. He is our rock when everything around us is sinking sand. Verse 3 tells us He alone is worthy of our praise.
He alone is worthy of our devotion and our praise. If you haven’t told Him today, pause for a minute to tell Him how much you love Him and how amazing He is.
Dear God,
I love you! You alone are so worthy of all my devotion and all my praise. Thank you for all that you have done for me today – especially thank you for your love. You are my rock, my fortress, my strong tower. Thank you for being the kind of God that I can run to. You are my everything. In Jesus Name, Amen.
