Who Are You Placing Your Trust In?
“What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt for help, trusting their horses, chariots, and charioteers and depending on the strength of human armies instead of looking to the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.” Isaiah 31:1 NLT
Hey friend!
Trust is something I have struggled with most of my adult life. There are seasons here and there when trusting someone or something comes more naturally but that hasn’t always been the case. Most of the time, it’s just downright hard and during these moments, my guard goes up and my suspicions are on high alert.
However, two big life lessons that God seems to be teaching me during this season of my life are obedience and trust. I wish I could say I was passing with flying colors, but that wouldn’t be true. The biggest lessons I’m learning haven’t been through my successes but rather through my mistakes and failures with each one.
It’s easy to say that we trust God with this area or that area of our lives but it’s a whole different thing to walk it out. I seem to get tripped up with putting the trust into action.
Sweet friend, who are you placing your trust in when it comes to that certain situation in your life? You know the one. We all have them. It’s the one that we tend to run to other things and people instead of God.
Isaiah 31:1 says, “What sorrow awaits those who look to Egypt for help, trusting their horses, chariots, and charioteers and depending on the strength of human armies instead of looking to the Lord, the Holy One of Israel.”
Sorrow and deep despair line the path for those who choose to trust in something or someone other than God. I’m learning that unexplainable joy awaits when we trust God in the unknown and the too hard of life. No matter the situation – let’s be women who run to Jesus first. It will be truly worth it.
Dear God,
Thank you for being the kind of God that I can run to in any situation that I face. Forgive me for the many times when I have looked to other things to place my trust in. You are all-knowing and all-powerful. Give me the courage and the boldness to fall completely into your arms – knowing that I can trust you to lead, guide, and take care of each of my needs. I love you, In Jesus’ name, Amen.
